Method

How the calculation works

PlanCalq starts with the room perimeter, subtracts the selected doorway width, and adds the waste allowance for mitres, joins and offcuts.

That recommended linear length is divided by the stock length and rounded up to a whole piece.

Should baseboard run across door openings?

Normally no, so the calculator can deduct door widths from the room perimeter.

How much waste should I allow?

More corners, mitres, damaged ends and short offcuts usually increase waste. Adjust the percentage to match the room complexity.

Can I use this for crown moulding?

The same perimeter logic can provide a rough quantity, but ceiling details, corners and profiles may require a different waste allowance.
