Ready to calculate

Patio or paved area

Use a saved space or enter the rectangular area you plan to cover.

Paver product

Use the face dimensions of one paver. Add waste for cuts, breakage and layout adjustments.

Optional cost estimate

Add a price per paver or per pack/pallet.

Planning estimate only. Complex patterns, edge cuts and supplier pack sizes can increase material needs.

How to use the Paver / Patio Calculator

Estimate individual pavers and full packs for a rectangular patio or path, with waste, cost and an optional base-material volume.

Step by step

What to enter

  1. Enter patio dimensions or reuse a saved outdoor space.
  2. Enter the face dimensions of one paver.
  3. Choose a waste allowance and enter how many pavers come in a pack or pallet.
  4. Optionally add base depth and material price.
Method

How the calculation works

The project area is divided by the face area of one paver to estimate the base unit count. Waste is added for cuts, breakage and pattern layout.

The recommended count is rounded into full packs. If a base depth is entered, PlanCalq also calculates the approximate compacted base volume across the patio area.

Calculation summaryPatio area ÷ paver face area = pavers requiredRequired pavers × (1 + waste %) = recommended paversPatio area × base depth = approximate base volume
Common questions

Paver / Patio Calculator FAQs

How much paver waste should I add?

Straight rectangular layouts need less waste than diagonal patterns, borders, curves or projects with many cuts.

Does base-material volume include compaction?

It is a planning volume from area × depth. Actual loose material ordered may need adjustment for compaction and supplier density.

Can I use this for a driveway?

You can estimate paver quantity, but the base design and paver specification for vehicle loads should be verified separately.
